More and more companies in the chemical industry are extending their production facilities by addition of a disposal plant for chemical residues. Such a plant not only ensures safe disposal of these residues, but also functions as a power plant. The heat from the combustion process is recovered and used to raise steam which can either be utilised as process steam or drive a steam turbine to generate electricity. By harnessing the energy contained in the residues, the chemical plant becomes less dependent on the fossil fuels normally used to produce the necessary amount of steam.
