By raising the number of membrane channels to as many as 85 and increasing the length of membrane elements to up to 1.5 meters, a filtering surface of 1.32m² per membrane element can be achieved, corresponding to 39.6m² per module when the largest standard module is used. This results in lower capital expenditure per square meter of filtering surface, reduced casing costs, and a compact design of the filtration plant with a small floor space requirement. In addition, series connection of modules in membrane plants is easier with these membranes: the number of elements to be connected is smaller – resulting in smaller pressure losses, smaller piping requirements on the permeate side, and additional cost savings.
